Sea Scouts from across the SF Bay Area gathered at the South Beach Marina by Oracle Park for an amazing day of rowing instruction from the Bay Area Whaleboat Rowing Association (BAWRA). Thank you to the Sea Scout Ships Viking and Corsair for putting on a fantastic activity.

We had eight of our Sea Scouts attend to learn best practices from the BAWRA instructors. Five of them had never rowed before. The morning was spent learning flotilla drill terms and how to row in a race. The afternoon was spent racing against other Sea Scout Ships by Oracle Park.
Our eight Sea Scouts had the chance to race other Sea Scout Ships, many of whom had never been in a whaleboat, let alone a race before. With a Sea Scout from the neighboring SSS Terrapin to have eight rowers, they all rowed together in sync as a team.
We look forward to more whaleboat racing in our future.
