We have a new boat for our Sea Scouts! A 1986 Navy Motor Whaleboat!
For those not familiar with Motor Whaleboats, they are 26 feet long, fiberglass hull, 7 tons, and has a Westerbeke engine. This boat will be awesome for day cruises, practicing docking, anchoring, and safety drills, such as man overboard recovery.
The new Nautilus has been in dry storage for the last three years. The Sea Scouts have performed multiple maintenance projects before bringing the boat to Coyote Point.
The hull has been painted, propeller cleaned and treated with anti-fouling protective coat, safety equipment inspected, and new safety equipment ordered. The boat is awaiting having the engine tuned by a diesel marine mechanic.
Stay tuned for more information as we prepare to take the Nautilus home.
